For our Joint lab GaN Optoelectronics  in the research area Photonics we are looking for a research staff / PhD Student.

The field of work comprises the planning and conduction of the chip processing of GaN diode lasers in the cleanroom of FBH with support from the technical staff. Optimized chip designs, technological concepts for improving the device performance as well as novel types of diode lasers are to be developed. Moreover, measurements of the diode lasers are to be conducted, coordinated and evaluated, respectively.

This position requires a university degree (master/diploma) in electrical engineering, physics, microsystems technology or similar. We expect the candidate to show commitment, flexibility and to be able to perform self-driven investigative work during the development process, as well as demonstrate perseverance and conscientiousness. Training and experience in the areas of diode lasers, semiconductor chip technology and electro-optical device characterization is preferred. Diode lasers are fabricated in a multi-stage process in collaboration with multiple experts in the areas of simulation, epitaxy, mounting and device characterization, so strong teamwork skills and good English skills are therefore a prerequisite. The work is partially within joint research projects and requires to make precise arrangements with external collaborators. There is the option of receiving a PhD.

The position can be filled immediately and is initially limited to two years.
